Jana is a Senior Clinical Test Evaluation Methodologist within the team. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Statistics and has 13 years of extensive experience in academic research, teaching and working with industry partners. Currently she lectures on postgraduate programmes within the Newcastle University Medical School and supervises MRes/PhD students and early-career researchers. She also sits on review panels for NIHR funding competitions and editorial panels for academic journals.
Jana is the methodology lead for our Ageing and Multiple Long-Term Conditions (MLTC) theme. Jana specialises in applying qualitative approaches such as thematic and framework analysis, alongside in-depth qualitative interviews with patients, clinicians, commissioners, and industry. She has secured and supported a substantial portfolio of externally funded research and innovation projects. A core part of her research is working closely with patient and public representatives and paying particular attention to the inclusion of marginalised and under-represented voices.
Jana also enjoys collaborating with other NIHR infrastructure. She co-leads the qualitative workstream within the NIHR HRC network and is actively involved in the MLTC Cross-NIHR Collaboration, the NIHR Methodology Incubator and the NIHR Statistics Group.
