Marcela joined the team in September 2025 as a Technical Specialist – Diagnostic Analyst. In this role, she supports evidence generation projects by assessing and evaluating emerging diagnostic tests and technologies.

She holds an MSc in Biomedical Genetics from Newcastle University, where she developed strong research and laboratory skills. Alongside her academic training, Marcela gained industry experience in a gene therapy Contract Development and Manfacturing Organisation (CDMO), contributed to qualitative educational research, and completed an internship with the HRC team (formerly MIC). These experiences strengthened her expertise in evidence appraisal, stakeholder engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Her professional interests focus on mixed methods approaches to diagnostic evaluation, particularly in cancer pathways, and on the integration of digital health solutions to improve patient outcomes.
