Phakapan joined the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) in Diagnostic and Technology Evaluation in September 2024 as an Evaluation Healthcare Scientist.
Her work focuses on the evaluation of diagnostic technologies using qualitative methods such as care pathway analysis, focus groups, and interviews. She is particularly interested in how diagnostics are integrated into clinical practice and their wider impact on patient care.
Originally trained as a pharmacist in Thailand, Phakapan gained extensive experience at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok, where she specialised in drug information services and led initiatives to improve patient education. She later earned an MSc (MedSci) in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow, where her dissertation explored the potential of gene therapy as a novel treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Phakapan brings a multidisciplinary perspective to her research and is a strong advocate of mixed-methods approaches that combine qualitative insight with quantitative analysis to support robust patient-centred innovation in healthcare.
