The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) not only expects but requires NIHR HRC support to be acknowledged in all research outputs.

The NIHR monitors these references to NIHR HRC support and uses them to measure our performance.  Future funding for the NIHR HRC and other NIHR awards to the partnership (between Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University) is dependent on our success in this area.

In addition, acknowledgements and bibliometric data are regularly used as a metric by the Department of Health & Social Care to justify future budgets for health research funding. Therefore, by acknowledging NIHR funding and support correctly, you are helping to ensure that clinical research projects and infrastructure will be supported in the future.
