Research Inclusion
What is it?
Research Inclusion is the effort to involve a variety of people in research to reduce biases and ensure a diverse perspective. Research inclusion is very important to us and we embed it in everything we do.
Why is it important?
* Without considering it, the benefits and side effects of research may not be relevant for the whole population.
* Therefore new tests, treatments, services or initiatives may not be appropriate for everybody.
* Consequently, health inequalities will be maintained or increased.
How is the NIHR addressing it?
On 27 November 2024, NIHR introduced a new requirement
Researchers must demonstrate how their research will address existing inequalities in health and social care when they are applying for funding from the NIHR.
We have developed a Research Inclusion Strategy outlining our commitments in the area of Research Inclusion.
